I came across this line recently and it really struck me: “I seriously considered inflicting my anger on them in force right there in Egypt. Then I thought better of it. I acted out of who I was, not by how I felt.” Ezekiel 20:8-9. If we were to act as we are – our character, our values, our truth – and not how we feel, my oh my I bet the world would be a better place. Love and compassion could spread endlessly. Distraught with all the negativity out there these days, I decided to try it out. I made a conscious effort to act as I AM, or at least who I strive to be, versus how I may feel in the moment. I was surprised to find that it felt amazingly freeing. Initially I had thought it would feel annoying, but it was quite the opposite. I could feel my feelings, but confront the issue in a way that made me feel confident. My thoughts came with more clarity and my body felt less of that blood-boiling stress. Could it really be so simple? It’s hard to say based on only my experience, so I need your help! Try it out and see how it feels for you. Not every day or every moment is perfect, but overall I’ve noticed a tremendous difference in how I feel. How will it feel for you? Give it a go, and let me know.
